Why Sing with Us?

Whatever your reason for joining, chances are you will find many more benefits to it than you expect!  We welcome singers of all abilities – all you need is your voice and your enthusiasm.  Not sure you can keep up with long term members?  Not a problem.  We’ll connect you with someone in the choir who can help.  If you can carry a tune with or without a bucket, come and see what we are all about.

Top five reasons to join a choir:

  1. Singing makes you happy! No matter how tough your day, you will walk out with a glow of joy and accomplishment.
  2. It’s a great way to meet people who share a passion for music.
  3. It’s good for your mind! Research shows that singing improves your ability to multi-task, your memory and your focus.
  4. You’ll have the opportunity to sing in cool places – in past years,  we sang at the Canadian Tire Center and the Canadian Aviation and Space Museum.
  5. You’ll give back to your community while doing something you love – we sing at community events throughout the year, as well as performing at retirement residences or other sing-outs during the holiday season.

    Expectations

We are all certainly here to sing and have fun, but we also take pride in the high quality of our performances.  This takes work!  So we do have a few ground rules:

    • You are expected to attend rehearsals on a regular basis, particularly as we draw closer to performance time.
    • We include time for socializing, so that we can focus on our music during rehearsals and not distract other singers by catching up with friends.
    • You will likely have to do some work at home on certain sections of pieces as assigned at rehearsal. MP3 files of the different parts are provided to help you work on pieces during the week.

If possible, you are expected to attend the retreats and sectionals that are scheduled during each season – this gives us an opportunity to focus on challenging pieces and strengthen friendships.
